The Bond University Student Association is here to represent all students. BUSA is always looking for feedback from students to take to the appropriate committees.
As elective representatives BUSA represents student concerns on a number of committees, including:
Academic Senate
Academic Senate is the peak academic body of the University and advises the Vice-Chancellor directly. Academic Senate discusses issues such as assessment, quality assurance audits, teaching, core subjects, grievance resolution and any other academic issues.
Membership:
Teaching and Learning
Teaching and Learning is a Standing Committee of Academic Senate to promote university-wide procedures, processes and expectations for teaching and learning at Bond University. The committee is chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor Teaching and Learning.
The Committee meets monthly and reports regularly to Academic Senate. This committee deals with issues such as TEVALs, Board of Examiners, subject outlines, student workload policies, refurbishment of learning spaces and teaching advancements.
Membership:
Information Services Advisory Committee
ISAC is responsible for Information Services and the Library and meets once a semester. This committee discusses things such as the electronic resources, library refurbishments and facilities, research and archiving.
Membership:
Program and Subject Review
This committee approves all new subjects and degree programs.
Membership:
TEVALs
Teaching Evaluations are currently being reviewed by a sub-committee of academic senate which reports back to Teaching and Learning. The questions are being re-written with a view to trial an electronic system. Other forms of teaching evaluation are also being considered.
Assessment Best Practice Review
In preparation for the 2010 Australian Universities Quality Agency Audit, a sub-committee of Academic Senate which reports to Teaching and Learning is reviewing and compiling University wide assessment policies and guidelines. This covers everything from late submission of subjects to reviewing results and a subject workload policy.
Core Curriculum Committee
The standard, assessment, quality and relevance of Core subjects are currently being reviewed by a sub-committee of Academic Senate.
There are many students who are under 18 for a considerable period of their time at Bond. This can often be difficult for students as a lot of the events held on campus are held in licensed premises and therefore not accessible to underage students.
BUSA encourages underage students to get involved in the sporting and cultural clubs and societies on campus while also taking advantages of the Rec Program run by the University's Rec Team.
BUSA often runs all-age events and encourages underage students to meet with the Special Interest Director who will be happy to help you settle and get involved at Bond.
Postgraduate and Mature-Age students are an important part of the Bond community. BUSA annually appoints a Post-Graduate Liaison who advises BUSA about the needs of Postgraduate and Mature Age students.
The Postgraduate Liaison also heads up the Postgraduate Student Association (the PGSA) which is a sub-committee of BUSA. This sub-committee does the following:
