Student Council and BUSA last night showed a united commitment to establish a single representative body for 2009. The two groups conducted a joint sitting on the evening of the 29th of July 2008. It was decided by a majority in both committees to move towards a single representative organisation (Union/ Guild) to be established in 083. This will take effect for the elections next semester. A foundation meeting for the new organisation will take place in early 083, subject to the approval of the new organisation's constitution by both committees.

The decision was made in the interest of combatting falling activity fees and to enhance students' experience in sporting, recreational and educational activities.
