Health and Medicine Students’ Association (HMSA)
The aim for the HMSA is to ensure that each and every student in the faculty gets the most out of their time at Bond!
The Goals of the HMSA
The goals we, the HMSA, have set out for the students revolve around three key words aims – Synergy, Integrity and Expansion.
Synergy
Our vision for the 2010/2011 HMSA is to bring the students in the HSM community closer together. The HMSA is doing this by integrating all students in a variety of different programmes tailored to their needs. We aim to invest even more time in personally assisting staff and students in an aim to widen our span within the faculty and offer the students an approachable and reliable student association. We have also developed programs which bridge the gap between students in different courses and at different stages within the faculty. All this is being done in the spirit of unifying the HSM students and helping them make the most of their time at bond.
Integrity
The social and academic events held by the HMSA in this coming year will be bigger and better than ever before. The HMSA has developed new events as well as re-vamped traditional ones; in doing so we have attracted a larger number of students and satisfied a wider variety of tastes. Through organisation and teamwork we are going to continue to bring students the successful, cost-friendly, exciting events they are looking for. Finally, we are working closely with the clubs and societies within the faculty providing a variety of opportunities for students to further their learning in fun and interesting ways.
Expansion
The HSM faculty has in the past had a stigma attached of being detached from the rest of the university. This has occurred mostly due to the lack of student interaction. The HMSA is working to remove this stigma by further integrating the faculty into the rest of the university. We are developing programmes to assist with promotion of Bond HSM degrees internally and externally to the university, invite guest speakers to attend speaker’s seminars to engage students from all faculties and finally interact with a broad range of employers to increase career opportunities for graduating students.
