Academic Warning

The following changes have been approved by Academic Senate and will take effect from the commencement of the May 2011 semester.

Division 6 – Progression

Academic Warning

A student will be issued with a warning if:

  • The student fails at least 50% of the credit points attempted in any semester or
  • The student fails a compulsory subject or program requirement

 

The previous semester grades are now available via eStudent. It is advisable that you check these grades as soon as possible.

If there is a notation on your transcript saying that you have been placed on Academic Warning or that you have been Excluded, then it is important that you read this e-mail. You should have also received an e-mail from Student Administration notifying you of a warning or exclusion.

If you have been Placed on Academic Warning.

If you have received an e-mail from Student Administration outlining that you have been placed on Academic Warning it is important to be aware of the consequences of this warning.

Assistance Available to You

BUSA is passionate in assisting students placed on academic warning to help them avoid exclusion. In order to assist you we strongly urge you to make an appointment with Vice-President (Education),  Matthew McLean, (matthew.mclean@student.bond.edu.au) or Advocacy Director, Marcus de Courtenay (advocacy@bond.edu.au).  This appointment will be strictly confidential and held in a private room on campus.

The Consequences of being placed on Warning

Once placed on academic warning it is important to note that you will be automatically excluded from the University if:

  • your semester grade point average falls below 0.5 in your next semester of enrolment;
  • your grade point average falls below 0.5 for a third time in any future semester; or
  • you fail the same subject twice
