2008 Bond University Model United Nations Competition
The Bond University United Nations Student Association is holding the Bond University Model United Nations Competition for the first time ever on Friday 19 September and Saturday 20 September 2008.
Is experience necessary?
No! There will be a training session as well as a Procedural Manual with ALL the information you will need!
Are there any requirements?
No! Students from all faculties are encouraged to participate and can be in any semester ranging from their first to final semester.
Does the competition require much preparation?
Delegates may spend as little as half an hour on preparation if they wish. However, students are encouraged to review the Procedural Manual, their Background Papers and their country’s position at the very minimum. Information on how to review your countries position and interests is listed under the ‘Resources’ section in your Procedural Manual.
What committees are available?
The competition committees include: the 3rd General Assembly (Social, Humanitarian and Economic), the 6th General Assembly (Legal), the Security Council (on the Saturday only) and the International Press Gallery (comprising of three Journalism students and by appointment only).

How do I register?
You can register by simply going to www.buunsa.org, clicking on ‘BONDMUNC’ and then ‘register’ and follow the instructions.
Are there guest speakers?
Yes! Guest Speakers include Virginia Balmain, Vice President United Nations Association of Australia and President United Nations Association of Australia (Qld), Laurence Boulle, Acting Dean of Law, Maureen Klar, International Law and International Environmental Law Lecturer and DFAT, amongst others.
Are there awards?
Yes! One delegate from each of the 3rd General Assembly, 6th General Assembly committees as well as the Security Council will receive a ‘Best Delegate’ trophy. One delegate will receive the ‘Most Outstanding Delegate Overall’.
Can we go to White House if we proceed to the Security Council? ABSOLUTELY! The Security Council sessions do not commence until 10am on Saturday 20 September.
If I do not proceed to the Security Council (second round of the competition) am I still able to participate in the Security Council?
Yes. But you will only have observer-state status and no voting rights. |
